FAQ's
Read responses to some frequently asked questions. If we haven’t covered something that’s on your mind send us an email with your question.
Email us at hello@littlegreengourmets.com and we will answer within 24 hours with a form for you to sign up. We only deliver to participating schools so make sure your school is collaborating with us!
Please email us 2 weeks in advance to cancel your meals and you will receive a refund! Unfortunately, we do not offer refunds if you cancel on service in less than two weeks.
We are unable to refund for last minute absences or school closures (snow days, pandemics, etc.). We will refund a child's absence (only for days when the school is open) given 14 days’ notice.
Unfortunately, we don't do individual delivery. However, if your school has 20 + parents who are interested in our service, we will offer a trial period and hence, the collaboration begins.
Even though we send a different number of meals each month, we charge the same amount per month. We calculate our pricing based on each school's calendar. We take all the early dismissals/holidays/other school closures into account and then average it out over the school year to maintain consistent pricing each month. Since we deliver to a lot of schools, it would be difficult for us to implement price changes for each school every month. This way, it makes it easier for us and also hopefully for the customer as well so that he or she can expect to pay the same amount.
We are trying to be as eco-friendly as possible, but unfortunately, the logistics of having the kids use reusable containers is too difficult now. The containers we use are paper lined with a BPA free moisture barrier. They are sealed with plastic film, but the food doesn’t really come into contact with the film.
50% more protein than the standard portion. For the pasta dishes and sides, the portion size is about the same because the trays are limited as to how much we can fit in them. We suggest starting with the regular portion, as that seems to be enough for most children, and then we can always switch to the large portion meals later on, just email us.
Proteins are cut small (approximately ¼”) and vegetables are cut small. For example, carrots are shredded and cooked soft. Pasta is smaller than the regular meals (no penne for example).
We leave it up to the discretion of each school to determine when to serve any fruit/snacks that we send, since some schools that we deliver to have their own snack programs.
I'm so sorry but while sibling discounts are something we would like to offer (we know how hard it is with just one child in daycare, let alone multiple!), the fact that our profits are made from very small margins from each meal prevents us from offering such discounts. Our apologies for the inconvenience.
